The College of Arts and Applied Sciences is headed by a dean and there are five departments: the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Education, the Department of Languages and Translation, the Mathematics and Sciences Unit, and the Department of Social Sciences.

The College of Arts and Applied Sciences admits students to the following undergraduate degree programs: • BS in Computer Science • BA in Education • BA in English Language • BA in Translation (coupled with a required Minor in Arabic) • BA and BS in Mathematics • BS in Physics • BS in Chemistry • BA in Social Work In addition, the College offers a post-BA one-year Diploma in Teaching.

Graduation Requirements |
||
|
To graduate with a Bachelor Degree in any of the undergraduate majors in the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, students must satisfactorily complete 120 credit hours with an overall minimum average of 65 percent, and a cumulative average of 70 percent in the major courses. The distribution of courses is as follows: University requirements: A total of 31 credit hours of general educational requirements for chemistry, computer science, mathematics, and physics majors; and 30 credits of general educational requirements for Arabic, education, English, and social work majors. These requirements are listed on page 19. College requirements: An additional total of 15 credit hours electives from the College, these are: 3 credits of physical and natural sciences (e.g., chemistry and physics), 6 credits of humanities and social sciences (e.g., Arabic, English, education, and social work), and 6 credits of general electives. General electives are detailed on page 20. Program requirements: A combined total of 75 or 74 credits (depending on the number of university credit requirements) from inside and outside the department in which the student is enrolled including program-specific electives.
