Organization Structure

 

The College of Engineering is headed by a dean and there are three departments: Electrical and Computer Engineering, Graphic Design, and Mechanical Engineering.

 

Academic Programs

 

The College of Engineering admits students to the following undergraduate degree programs:

•  BS in Computer and Communications Engineering

•  BS in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

•  BGD in Graphic Design

•  BS in Mechanical Engineering

 

Admission and Graduation Requirements

 

The most promising eligible applicants are selected for first year engineering.  Special attention is given to the following factors:

•  Level of proficiency in English

•  Level of proficiency in Mathematics and IT skills

•  Academic performance in the subject matters related to engineering

Students at the end of the second year, with a cumulative average of 65 percent and average of 70 percent in all engineering courses, are promoted to the third year engineering program, and will qualify for a Bachelor Degree at the end of the fourth year if they meet the graduation requirements. 

To graduate with a Bachelor Degree in any of the majors in the College of Engineering, students must satisfactorily complete between 134 and 141 credit hours with an overall minimum average of 65 percent, and a cumulative average of 70 percent in the major courses.  The total number of required credits varies by major and by placement level in English.  The distribution of courses is as follows:

University requirements: A total of 31 credit hours for engineering majors (and 30 credit hours for graphic design major) of general educational requirements, including humanities and social sciences that are listed on page 19.

College requirements (for engineering majors only, excluding graphic design program): 52 credits, of which 29 credits are in humanities and sciences (humanities or social science electives, sciences electives, CHEM 101 and CHEM 101L, MATH 200, MATH 201, MATH 202, MATH 209, MATH 301, PHYS 201, and PHYS 201L) and 23 credits of engineering courses (MECH 201, ENGR 300, ENGR 100, EECE 130, EECE 210, EECE 210L, EECE 230, EECE 400, EECE 402).

Program requirements: Between 59 and 83 credit hours (depending on the chosen major) from inside and outside the department in which the student is enrolled including program-specific electives, with variation by major. Note that general electives are detailed on page 20.
