Organizational Structure:

The College of Commerce and Business Administration is headed by a dean overseeing two departments: the Department of Accounting and Finance, and the Department of Management, Marketing and Information Systems.

Objectives:

The objectives of the programs at the College are:

  • To provide students with state-of-the-art academic programs of superior quality and relevance through excellent instruction, scholarly contribution, and service to students and other constituencies.

  • To prepare students for a variety of managerial and professional careers in business through innovative programs that integrate theory with practical experience.

Learning Outcomes:

The diploma and bachelor degree programs aim to produce graduates who:

  • Have the knowledge and skills necessary to understand and succeed in business, government, and/or graduate school.

  • Are equipped to think creatively and critically and play leadership roles in society.

  • Can operate in a computer-based environment. 

  • Possess effective interpersonal communication skills.

Admission and Graduation Requirements:

The College of Commerce and Business Administration admits students to the Diploma in Business Administration and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration.

 

The criteria for admission to the first year are described in the first section of this catalogue.  Students at the end of the second year, with a cumulative average of 65 and average of 70 in all business courses are promoted to the third year business program, and will qualify for a Bachelor Degree at the end of the fourth year if they meet all graduation requirements.

 

To graduate with a diploma in Business Administration, students must satisfactorily complete 60 credit hours (of which 24 credits are University requirements and 36 credits are general College and concentration requirements as listed below) with a cumulative average of 65 percent. 

 

To graduate with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, students must satisfactorily complete a total of 120 credit hours (including the 60 credits earned in the diploma) with a cumulative average of 65 percent, and a cumulative average of 70 percent in all business courses.  The diploma and degree requirements are listed below.

Course Coding System:

The following system of course numbering and prefixes is used:

  • First year level courses start with 100, second year 200, third year 300-349, and fourth year 350-399.
