Borrow and Return Service

In a bid to provide a state-of-the-art information service
for all users, the center has facilitated the circulation of books via internal
and external borrowing, carried out by a modern computerized system that saves
time and effort and maintains a high caliber of accuracy .
Our Objectives:
1.
Register users’
data on the computerized system in coordination with Admission and Registration
department of DH.
2.
External
Borrowing.
3.
Borrowing duration
can be renewed for another period only if there is no demand on the same
borrowed items.
4.
Books shall be
seized upon retrieval for other users who required them.
5.
Following up with
delayed items and reminding their users.
Instructions
-
DU ID has
to be shown when borrowing.
-
The
borrower is held responsible for all items registered under his or her name.
-
Reference
books (like dictionaries , encyclopedias , …etc) are not allowed for external
borrowing
-
LRC
reserve the right to retrieve any book before the termination of borrowing
period when it is necessitated.
-
In case of
loss or damage of library materials, the person responsible for that shall
secure original edition as a replacement or pay twice the price of the
book according to the estimated cost of the center.

Students
shall not be allowed to borrow new books in case there are delayed items in
their possession
-
Number of
books allowed for borrowing:
- Faculty members are allowed to borrow
(5) items for the period of one month.
- Administrative and technical staff:
(5) for one week.
- BA & BS students: (3) items for 3
days.
- External borrowers can borrow (2)
items for three days. In this case the center shall require an official letter
from the borrower’s employer and record necessary information.
Current Awareness Service

Current Awareness Service aims at
acquainting users with the latest information mediums received by the LRC. This
service is achieved by:

Informing
and acquainting users about materials that of interest through appropriate
channels.

Displaying
the newly arrived documents and resources as well as giving the opportunity
for reading them.
-
Selecting
materials that fit the needs of the users.
Methods of presenting Current
Awareness Service:
There are many techniques and methods
through which LRC and the library provide this service .Among these methods are
the following:
1.
Photocopying glossaries of new
arrivals and distribute them amongst the users.
2.
Making phone calls and visiting
researches personally.
3.
Displaying lists of new arrivals
titles on the notice board.
4.
Surveying the titles of new materials
on the LRC internet website link (New Arrivals).
Reference Service

Reference
Service is also known as FAQs (frequently asked questions). This service allows
researches and users to ask questions and inquire about any topic, LRC will then
respond by using the available references and items. Other information sources
like the internet help users utilize available information in LRC. Due to new
progress in modern technology, this service has been widely used on the
internet. On its website, LRC offers this service known as (Ask Librarian).
Readers’ Assistance Service

LRC
continually offers assistance for readers to reach information sources such as
books, articles, and periodicals and to know how to use encyclopedias and
dictionaries. Readers are also guided to educational websites on the internet.
In library reading
up
There are some reference books that
cannot be borrowed, and some readers prefer to stay at the center for reading.
Therefore, LRC offers this service to make it possible for users to review
materials comfortably through out the working hours.
Reserve Items service
up
The LRC
accepts to reserve books according to faculty members’ requirements and allows
trainees borrow them under the following conditions:
-
A book can be borrowed for one hour renewable if not
demanded by other users during working hours.
-
Books can be borrowed for one night starting from the end
of evening shift until the beginning of the morning shift of the next day.
-
Books can be borrowed for the weekend which starts from the
end of the evening shift on Wednesday until the beginning of the morning shift
of Saturday.
Internet service
up
LRC provides
internet access for users via 20 personal computers connected to the worldwide
web. This service is offered under the following regulations:
-
Users and researchers are permitted to get access to the
Internet for academic research purposes only.
-
Access to the internet is allowed for half an hour for each
user, and can be extended in case there are no other users.
