Dhofar University Awards
New Contract for
External Works and Services:

Second Part of the First Phase of the Construction of the Campus

Signing of contracts

Dhofar University has recently finalized the contract for External Works and Services, which has been awarded to Al Katheery Trading and Contracting Establishment. The contract signing ceremony was held in Salalah on the 5th of December 2007, at Dhofar University., associated with the Graduation Ceremony of the third batch of Dhofar University students.

The scope of works includes the construction of internal roads & paving, storm water drainage, external power supply to the site, internal electrical distribution, sub-stations, water supply, street lighting, car parking facilities, guard houses, boundary walls, landscaping and irrigation.

The value of the external works and services contract is RO. 5,228,299.392. The contract period is 17 months and the contract will be completed on 30th September 2009.

With the signing of the External Works and Services Contract, Dhofar University has so far awarded contracts worth R.O. 19,221,430.700 for the various facilities included under Phase I of the campus development. Recently, contracts worth                         RO. 13,993,131.308 were awarded to Al Hashmi & Al Rawas Company and Modern Contracting, for the construction of the Administration Building, Library Building, College of Engineering, College of Commerce and Business Administration, College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Common Classroom Building, Student Activity Centre and the Mosque.

Dhofar University will shortly be floating a new tender for the construction of three dormitory buildings. The new campus has been designed by the National Engineering Office, a local firm of consultants. The design blends the values of rich Omani architecture with elements of the environment of the Dhofar region. The campus will have the most modern educational  facilities as well as top quality infrastructure.
