The closing of the Crisis Management Workshop took place on Wednesday the 8th of August, 2007 at the Crown Plaza Resort. The workshop lasted four days and the closing ceremony was held under the auspices of Mr. Fouad Haddad, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Administration and Financial Affairs and was also attended by Omar bin Mohammad Muqaibil, General Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs for the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates. This workshop was considered to be part of the continuous cooperation and coordination between the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates and Dhofar University, especially in the field of training and qualifying of the local work force.
The workshop covered the methods of dealing with crises, managing them with efficiency as well as making plans on how to deal with future crises, before, during and after the crisis. The workshop also concentrated on making emergency aid plans to contain crises and minimize the costs of financial and human losses which are caused by crises and accidents.
There were 26 participants in the workshop, all of whom work as heads of sections or engineers in the institution as well as in government offices in such as the Ministry of Housing, Electricity and Water, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry as well as participants from companies in the private sector.
