College of Engineering Moves to
New Building
on Temporary Campus

New Engineering Building
Dhofar University’s College of Engineering has moved from its original quarters on the second floor of the Administration building to a new, independent building near the College of Commerce and Business Administration. The move was made in order to cope with the rapid increase in the number of students who have registered in the College since its establishment in 2004.

Since the College of Engineering offers majors in subjects such as Graphic Design and Interior Architecture as well as the engineering majors of Computer and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering, for example, the variety of classrooms, studios and labs such as computer, mechanical engineering, electronics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, motion graphics and graphic design labs that are needed is substantial. For this reason it was necessary for the College to move to a large enough building that could accommodate all these needs until the first phase of the new DU campus is completed. The new facilities are both spacious and pleasant, and the students as well as the faculty and staff are delighted with the chance to expand and improve the College so that the students will receive the best education possible in preparation for their entry into the job market.
