Dhofar University Participates in GHEDEX Muscat 2007

His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Sa’eed recieves gift from DU representative

Dhofar University participated in the Gulf Higher Education Exhibition (GHEDEX) under the auspices of His Highness Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq Al Sa’eed, Advisor to His Majesty. The exhibition was held in the National Oman Center for exhibitions between the 16th and 18th of April, 2007. Dhofar University encourages this type of event, which aims to introduce students to the many opportunities that are offered by the participating universities and colleges. This type of exhibition encourages and stimulates university and even high school students to think about their future study plans and careers, through providing information about the large selection of majors that are offered by the higher education institutions. GHEDEX is known to be one of the major yearly gatherings for higher education providers in the Middle East and Asia. There are 300 representatives from 180 of the most prominent universities in the world participating in the exhibition this year. Dr. Rawya Al Busaidiyah, the Minister of Higher Education, said that holding these exhibitions that are related to higher education, technical training and hiring is considered a great opportunity for the participants and guests to familiarize themselves with what other universities and colleges around the world are offering these days. She said that it is also an attempt to engender cooperation among educational organizations, both for Omanis and other nationalities, and to also find special opportunities for education and scholarships in all fields of higher study.

Dhofar University also participated in the 19th Gulf Education and Training Exhibition that was held in the Dubai International Center for Exhibitions from the 11th to the 14th of April, 2007. GETEX is the largest education fair in the Middle East and Asia that takes place on a yearly basis.
