Graphic Design Students Visit OMAN TV Studio

A group of Graphic Design students, accompanied by their Motion Graphics instructor, Mr. Khaled Adam, made a visit to the Oman Television studios in Salalah, on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006. They toured the whole of the Oman TV offices and studios, and met all the staff members, who were surprised to meet students who already had a good knowledge of motion graphics and many of the digital design programs being used at the television station. The students were also pleasantly surprised to find that they were familiar with the programs, and were able to quickly pick up an understanding of programs they had not encountered at the University. The visit gave them an opportunity to experience a ‘real life’ job situation, one in which some of them might well find themselves within one or two years, and they returned to DU, full of news and renewed enthusiasm for their field of studies. As a result of the visit, the staff at Oman TV expressed their wish to liaise with the Graphic Design Dept. at Dhofar University on a regular basis, and the students felt that this was a wonderful beginning to an ongoing and useful relationship. They were also encouraged to exhibit videos they have already produced, as a part of  the Open Day activities that will take place during the Spring Term.
