On May 2008, H.E. Dr. Rawya AlBousaidiya Minister of Higher Education visited the temporary premises of Dhofar University accompanied by her deputy Dr. Abdullah AlSarmi.  This visit reflects the Ministry’s efforts to enhance cooperation and communication with all higher education institutions. The distinguished guests were received by the Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Muhammad Ali Faour who gave them a short presentation about the new developments at the University and its strategic plan that emphasizes quality education in line with His Majesty’s call to all universities to promote quality.  The Vice Chancellor discussed with Her Excellency the challenges facing universities in Oman including DU and ways of meeting those challenges.  Her Excellency emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation between the Ministry and private Universities as a major vehicle for enhancing quality education in the Sultanate. 
The Minister also visited the construction site of the new campus and met with the project manager and his assistants who briefed her on the progress of the project. Her Excellency expressed her admiration at the scale, pace, and quality of work undertaken by the contractors and the supervision team.
Dr. AlSarmi, on his part, met with representatives of DU students and discussed with them a host of issues that are of mutual interest to students and the Ministry.
