As a gesture of gratitude and appreciation for their assistance in providing internship opportunities for student teachers at DU, Dhofar University invited cooperating teachers and school principals in Dhofar to a special ceremony and reception on June, 2008.  The ceremony was attended by students, cooperating teachers, school principals, representatives of the Directorate of Education in Dhofar led by Deputy Director Mrs. Maizoon bint Bakheet AlShahri, and senior DU staff including Dr. Husain Yaghi, Dean of Arts and Applied Sciences and Acting Chair of the Education Department.  The ceremony was sponsored by the Vice Chancellor of Dhofar University Professor Muhammad Faour.

In his speech, Dean Yaghi highlighted the role of DU in preparing qualified teachers to educate the new generations in the region and to enhance the quality of education in the Sultanate.  He thanked the schools that provided opportunities for the education students at DU to practice teaching as part of their degree requirements and indicated that honoring cooperating teachers and school principals reflects DU’s belief in partnership between local schools and the University. This was followed by distribution of presents. 
The Vice Chancellor distributed presents to supervisors and cooperating teachers honoring their contribution to DU students. Also honored was Mrs. AlShahri, representative of the Director of Education in Dhofar.
