Representatives from Educational Testing Services Visit DU

Representatives from ETS with Prof. Muhammad Faour

Representatives from Educational Testing Service (ETS) paid a visit to Dhofar University on the 26th of February, 2008. Dr. Gerben Ban Lent, Executive Director in Business Development, Dr. Yaser Salim, Director of ETS Middle East and North Africa, and Mr. Gladwin Dharale, ETS representative in Oman, were welcomed by Prof. Muhammed Faour, Vice Chancellor of Dhofar University, deans of colleges and the Director of the Foundation Program. The subjects discussed in their meeting were furthering the administration of the Institutional Testing Program (ITS) TOEFL exam in DU as well as suggesting options for the exams related to specific majors at the University, such as, for example,  IT, Engineering and Business Administration. They also discussed the further validation  of programs through external exams. ITP TOEFL has been expanded to satisfy the needs of DU especially in relation to the majors offered and the ETS wishes to make sure that the University is administering the examination according to the organization’s standards. Since it is part of DU’s plans to train and upgrade the qualifications of their staff, DU administrative staff will also be taking the TOEFL exam to give them a chance to find out their level and subsequently develop their language skills.
