A delegation from the College of Engineering
at Sultan Qaboos University visited Dhofar University
on the 1st of August, 2007 as part of the continuing
cooperation between the two universities. This
visit took place after SQU achieved full membership
in the International Association for the Exchange
of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE)
last January. The delegation was made up of a
number of students from the College of Engineering,
students from other countries who are members
of the Association as well as training supervisors.
Dhofar University welcomed this visit especially
since SQU is the leading university in the Sultanate
and will represent the country in IAESTE and
DU is hoping to benefit as much as possible from
the training programs organized by the Association.
The Head of the Continuing Education Center,
the Career Guidance Officer and a Student Affairs
staff member from DU presented information about
the university, its sections, statistics, majors
and ambitions to the delegation. There was also
a chance to exchange advice and experience between
the delegation and the university.
The representatives from DU also gave facts about
the new campus, for which the foundation stone
was laid on August 2nd. Members of the visiting
delegation were taken on a tour around the University,
and were impressed by the facilities and the progress
made by DU in less than three years, since the
launching of operations in 2004.
