Dhofar University is now preparing for ‘Culture Week’ that takes place every year on the University campus.  This special week always gives students a chance to shine by using their diverse variety of hidden talents. Everyone looks forward to seeing what the students will produce each year, since most of the events are left entirely up to them.  The local community is invited to attend the events and come to see the many exhibitions, such as the Art, Culture, Graphic Design, Engineering and Social Work exhibitions that will be put on around the many buildings on campus. In addition, there will be theatrical performances, music and dancing, and a number of lectures given by distinguished guests from outside the University. This year His Excellency Sheikh Salim bin Aufait Al Shanfari, Head of the Dhofar Municipality will inaugurate the week of festivities, which will take place from April 28th to May 2nd, 2007, beginning with ‘Open Day’ on April 28th. One of the highlights of Culture Week this year is the ‘Poetry Night’ which will host a number of poets and poetesses, among them the well known Fahad Al Sa’di who won this year’s prize “Poet of a Million” and Dr. Safa Al Jameel. There will also be a ‘Ladies’ Night’ on the 30th of April, an event that takes place every year. Culture Week will be sponsored by a number of companies such as Dhofar Power Company, Oman Oil Company and Dhofar International Development & Investment Holding Co.
