Mr. Gary A. Grappo, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Sultanate of Oman paid a visit to Dhofar University on Sunday, May 20, 2007. The purpose of his visit was simply to get acquainted with DU, since it was his first visit. He met with Prof. Faour, the Vice Chancellor, the Deans and senior administrative staff, and in light of the strong historical connections that link the two countries, they discussed the possible aspects of further cooperation between the Embassy and DU. Ambassador Grappo, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Rebecca Grappo, who is herself an educator, toured the College of Engineering, and then met with a group of students from a selection of departments around the University. Among other questions, they asked the students what they wanted from the University  in the future, and were interested to hear that the students were hoping first of all to be able to do graduate studies, and also wanted to be able do research. After the relaxed and enjoyable meeting, the guests and their delegation then left for the Crowne Plaza Hotel, where Prof. Faour hosted a luncheon for them.
