“Burnout in English Language Teaching: Recovery & Prevention” workshop by Dr. Liz England

   On March 4, the Vice Chancellor received in his office the Assistant Public Affairs Officer in the US Embassy in Muscat , Mr. Walter Parrs along with Mr. Russell Barczyk, English Language Program Manager, AMIDEAST/Oman. The Vice Chancellor also met with Dr. Liz England who is the Director and Professor of ESL and TESOL Programs at Shenandoah University in Winchester , Virginia . Dr. England has been involved in teacher training during the past two decades in the US and overseas and will present a workshop for DU faculty on professional development issues.
The Center for Teaching and Learning at DU coordinated with Dr. Liz England and Mr. Russell Barczyk who is the English Language Program Manager for AMIDEAST in Oman for a faculty workshop. Dr. Liz England is the Director and Professor of ESL and TESOL Programs at Shenandoah University in Winchester , Virginia . She has been involved in teacher training during the past two decades in the US and overseas. On Wednesday, March 4, 2009 Dr. England presented to 37 faculty members a workshop entitled “Burnout in English Language Teaching: Recovery & Prevention”. The workshop focused on defining teacher burnout, how to deal with it, and how to recognize that one has it. Later, Dr. England worked with the participants on identifying tools and methods to use to help recover from burnout.
