CE Students Win Cultural Competition for the Second Year in a Row

Within the framework of cultural activities that Dhofar University holds during the academic year, the Unit responsible for cultural and theatre activities in the Office of Student Affairs, held the Second Cultural Competition in Ibn Rushd Hall, On December 29th, 2009 in which students from the three different colleges participated.  The competition was held under the direction of Dr. Hussein Yaghi, Assistant Vice for Academic Services Chancellor and in the presence of a number of faculty and non-faculty members and students from the University.

The competition included two groups of questions that differed in content and degree of difficulty and centered on general knowledge as well as on special topics in order to make the competition, which involved two stages, more interesting and motivate participating students.  Each team was composed of three students and all three colleges: the College of Engineering, the College of Arts and Applied Sciences and the College of Commerce and Business Administration competed against each other.

  The first round saw the teams of the College of Arts and Applied Sciences and the College of Engineering compete for the first spot in the part that involved background questions in the cultural, social, economic and sport fields.  The last stage of the competition saw the team of the College of Engineering come away as the winner for the second year in a row.  The team of the College of Applied Arts and Sciences came in second place and the team of the College of Commerce and Business Administration in third place.
