The Office of Information and Public Relations at DU in cooperation with the General Directorate of Civil Defense at the Department of Civil Defense of the Royal Oman Police under the leadership of the Police Department in Dhofar Governorate organized an introductory Lecture on Civil Defense and it was attended by members of the faculty,  the administration and students. The purpose of the lecture was to educate the public about fire protection, safety and raise the level of preventive awareness.

Officer Ramadhan Bin Said Albaraka the Director of Civil Defense in Dhofar Governorate with the participation of Lt. Ali Bin Salem Jaaboob Head of operations, training and Sergeant Mohammed bin Salim Al Hilali Coach in the Management of civil defense in Dhofar gave a lecture, dealing with a number of basic issues, including the roles of civil defense in fighting fires, providing emergency assistance, raising public awareness and developing outreach programs in order to prevent the occurrence of fire and other risks.
