Within the framework of the integration of DU in any local and International events, the Cultural and Theatrical Section for the Office of Student Affairs at DU organized a celebration on this occasion. The celebration was under the patronage of Mahfoodh bin Hamdan Al Wahibi, Director General of the Directorate General of Manpower in Dhofar Governorate and attended by Dr. Farid Shabaan, Dean of the College of Engineering, Miss Wathiqa Bait Said, Manager of the Office of Student Affairs and number of cultural and theatrical samples in the governorate. Ahmed Ma’aroof Al Yafai, Supervisor of Drama and Theatre Group, said that we chose that day to honor and celebrate a local actor, a friend who is the deceased Amer bin Gieh Qatan. Amer Gieh gave a lot to the local theater in his few years. We would like to dedicate this ceremony to his soul. Then a student from the university's Drama and Theatre Group gave a speech in behalf the group. Then Mr. Faisal bin Farag Al Nahari, Head of Obar Theatrical Group, gave a speech in which he thanked Dhofar University for this initiative in honoring the founder of their group and for caring for the local theater.  Then Ahmed Al Maashani, a local poet, read a poem that was dedicated to his friend the deceased Amer Gieh. After that, DU honored the deceased, Obar Theatrical Group and Mr. Ahmed Al Maashani. The celebration ended with a play entitled “Room number 4” performed by young local actors Ahmed Al Rawas, Rami Al Mashiki, Moamer Al Shari, Hisham Saleh and Abdullah Al Hadhri. The play was directed by Ahmed Al Rawas and written by Abdullah Al Hadhri.
