DU Dinner for Out-of-town Female Students

A dinner was hosted by DU on Wednesday, 3rd June 2009 for out-of-town female students who are residents of the hostel. The FP coordinated the event and 211 students attended the dinner in the University lawn along with the VC, the Deans of various colleges, the Directors of the FP and the CTL, some faculty members and the hostel supervisors. This was an occasion when students could interact freely with important personalities of the University and even have their pictures taken with them in an atmosphere of cheer and friendliness. The pleasant weather, the beautiful venue and the varied menu also contributed in making the event a successful one. It was generally felt that such events should be held more often since they emphasized   the happiness of students for feeling at home, away from home. More such events will be organized in the future.
It is worthwhile to note here that Dhofar University has rented buildings specially to host its female students who come from all regions.  In addition to the accommodation, the university also hires supervisors and security personnel to ensure a caring and safe environment for over 200 students.  More than R.O. 100,000 is allocated in the annual DU budget for this purpose.
