As part of Dhofar University's exploration of new agreements of collaboration with other universities in the Sultanate and overseas, the Vice Chancellor and the Director of the newly established Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) visited three known universities in Canada during the month of July 2008.  They visited the prestigious University of Toronto where they met with Professor Kenneth Bartlett, the Director of the Office for Teaching Advancement, and the well known McMaster University where they met with Dr. Paula Borin Acting Director of the Center for Leadership in Learning. In both meetings, there was exchange of intellectual ideas and experiences about issues relating to teaching effectiveness, improvement of student learning, mutual faculty development issues and prospective collaborative agreements between Dhofar University's CTL and the comparable centers and offices at these universities.  Drafts of agreements of cooperation are being prepared.
The Vice Chancellor also visited the University of Ottawa in the capital of Canada where he met with Dr. Gilles Breton, Associate Vice-President Academic (International) at the University of Ottawa to discuss a prospective agreement of cooperation between the two universities. The discussion centered around the possibilities of exchange of students and faculty and of cooperation in areas of research and teaching advancement
