Dr. Aref Wazwaz Participates in GCREEDER Conference in Jordan

Dr. Aref Wazwaz, Assistant Professor of Chemical Engineering, recently collaborated in presenting a paper at the “Global Conference On Renewables and Energy Efficiency for Desert Regions and Exhibition” (GCREEDER 2011) that was held at the University of Jordan from 26 – 28 April, 2011.  The paper was a result of cooperation between Dr. Wazwaz at Dhofar University and the Energy Center at University of Jordan. Professor Ahmad Al-Salaymeh (Director of the Energy Center, University of Jordan) presented the paper, entitled  ‘Photothermal Testing Followed by Degradation Testing of Nickel-Pigmented Aluminium Oxide Selective Absorber Prepared by Alternate and Reverse Periodic Plating Technique‘.

The conference, which was opened by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Jordan, is the 3rd conference on renewables for desert regions, the first having been successfully convened in 2006, and the second in 2009. The 2009 conference was marked by publishing selected papers in the Energy Conversion and Management Journal and this recent conference will be considered as being of the same caliber. The GCREEDER 2009 conference attracted professionals from both industry and academic fields. In fact, Dr. Wazwaz also participated in the 2009 conference. After his paper was selected as a special issue in the conference, it was published in the International Journal of Energy Conversion and Management.

This year’s conference covered diverse areas of research including clean power from deserts, energy produced from hydropower, solar thermally driven cooling systems, ecological power facilities for energy and sweet water generation, biomass and biogas for sustainable energy generation, energy and exergy utilization, combined PV solar and absorption systems,  technical and economical windows design, geo-polymers from untreated Kaolinite, dye sanitized solar cells, fuel cell applications, solar photovoltaic, greenhouse building and global warming, photo thermal systems, wind energy,  green buildings, solar houses,  biodiesel,  energy consumption and climate change, hydroelectricity,  solar collectors,   as well as other topics.

Many countries took part in the conference, including Oman, France, UK, Luxemburg, Canada, Jordan, Palestine, Russia, Algeria, Libya, Iraq, Iran, Bahrain, Germany, UAE, Serbia, Latvia, Macedonia, Sweden, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Cyprus, Kuwait, Italy, India, Malaysia, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
