Dhofar University Celebrates Earth Day

Dhofar University organized activities to coincide with the celebrations of the International Earth Day on April 22, of every year.  Dr. Ahmad Smaili, Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Support Services and Dean of the College of Engineering oversaw the organization of these activities.  Several projects were proposed for adoption, one of which the Waterboxx suggested by Dr. Ibrahim Najjar, Head of the Social Sciences Department.  Mr. Steve Kass, Coordinator of the Centre for Learning Support proposed initiating an​awareness campaign about the dangers of the use of plastic bags on the environment and be replaced by bags of fabric.   In another project, participants collected plastic bags and made them three-dimensional to represent the globe to be safely disposed of later.
The student club our welfare for our people planted 90 trees around the University to celebrate Earth Day, and the students of graphic design made paintings that reflect the awareness of the importance of the Earth.  Mr. Mohamed Zidan, head of the Graphic Design Department organized competitions about the same theme.
