Projects focused on cultural and economic development
31 graduates from the College of Engineering at Dhofar University present their graduation projects

A group of students from the Department of Graphic Design and Interior Architecture at Dhofar University presented their graduation projects for the Academic Year 2010/2011, which included nine projects.
The Chairman of the Department, Dr. Mohamad Zeidan said that the Department is in constant touch with the local labor markets to know their needs and the specializations and skills their require, adding that the students are required to spend a summer working in the field to gain experience.
Dr. Mohammad Mostapha from the same Department explained that the students’ projects have a dual function: to present their projects which respond to the needs of the community and to acquaint the market with their skills and capabilities.
In their turn, the students explained the significance of their projects. Yassir Bin Jamaan Al Khalis Al Shikily said that his project is a proposal to redevelop the building of the Omani Woman Association in a modern way to include a day care center and other needed areas. Student Hussein Bin Salim Hafeeth Ba Omar said about his project that it is a documentary reflecting a new plan for “Beit Assour” to make it a museum with Dhofari Architectural style. Student Ammar Bin Hamid Al Marhoun presented a correctional institution for junior offenders. Whereas, student Tawakkul Bin Abdallah Balhaf made a building for a national library with a classical Dhofari style. Student Latifa Bint Said Al Barami presented a project for the treatment of the sick and their recuperation.
The graduates of the Graphic Design Unit presented projects ranging from redesigning the Omani currency by Sharifa Kashoub, to designing a graphic design program for the eleventh and twelfth classes, a project for raising awareness about divorce and its implications on society by student Shayma Alrawas, a project on the problems of teen agers by student Alwai Alghassani and many other projects about various social problems presented by students: Khadija Alabri, Muna Bint Saleh Rir Omar, Reem Almashaykhi, Fatima Qatan, Kholoud Al Yafaei, Azza Al Shahri, Mariam Al Mashani and Muna Al Barami.
