MoHE Delegation Visited Dhofar University
In the framework of the continuing cooperation
between the Ministry of Higher Education and the Private Higher Educational
Institutions, a delegation from the ministry visited DU for two days: 22nd & 23rd
February 2009. The delegation was headed by Dr. Khamis Al Boloushi, Manager
of Programs and Quality Audit Department. The visit aimed at discussing
the situation in DU, new educational plans and the performance of the last
field visit recommendations, in addition to discussing the last recommendations
of the American University in Beirut evaluation visit. Furthermore, the
visit dealt with challenges and difficulties that may restrict DU from
achieving its goals. The delegation visited the main utilities in DU and
checked out how those utilities were adequate to the students needs. The
distinguished guests were received by the Vice Chancellor of the University,
Professor Muhammad Ali Faour, who briefed them about the new developments
at the University and its strategic plan that emphasizes quality education
in line with His Majesty’s call to all universities to promote quality. The
Vice Chancellor discussed with the delegation the last recommendations
of the American University in Beirut evaluation visit and the challenges
facing universities in Oman including DU and possible ways of tackling
them. Prof. Faour also talked about the university’s self-study that was
written for the recognition from Oman Accreditation Council. Then he talked
about new programs and studies in order to improve the educational standards
of the students. The new campus was also part of the discussion. Prof.
Faour also explained the whole Construction process.
