Al Shanfri: The exhibition mirrors the integrity with the civic community
Faour: It is important for the university to be center for education and activities in Dhofar Governorate.
The exhibition, organized by the office of Information and Public Relations, was inaugurated in the 14th of February under the patronage of HE Sheikh Salem bin Ofaiet bin Abdullah Al Shanfri, Head of Dhofar Municipality, at DU’s temporary premises. The exhibition will continue till the 18th of March 2009. There are about 100 photos in the exhibition. DU participated in the exhibition represented by the students of Graphic Design from the College of Engineering.
Sheikh Salem bin Ofaiet says that this exhibition comes within a distinguished framework which reflects the organizers’ serious desire to create integrity between the community and the different academic environments represented in this exhibition in DU which opens its doors widely to present the audience distinguished and meaningful works of art.
Bin Ofaiet adds that the works shown represent creative moments taken by the lenses of Omani artists who enjoy the artistic vision reflected in the works. He wishes them all the best and adds that DU’s adoption of such activities comes within the framework of familiarizing the university student with such artistic visions; this is a good indication of the university’s continuous integrity with the civic and educational community.
Prof. Faour, DU vice chancellor, similarly adds that DU is a center for communication and we, being in charge, are proud to present distinguished patterns done by promising Omani fingers. We want our students to be familiar with the different arts and education in Oman in addition to what they learn in the university. Prof. Faour also adds that what we see in the exhibition is a distinction for the members of the photography club in the Omani Society for Fine Arts together with distinguished works by the students of graphic design in the faculty of engineering in Dhofar University.
Distinguished Cooperation
Abdullah bin Mohammed al-Makhzoom, chair of the graphic design in the Omani Society for Fine Arts says: this exhibition is an annual educational bridge that is held for the first time here. Thanks go to DU for making this exhibition distinguished in both the place and the additions made by the graphic design students.
AlMakhzoom also adds that the exhibition contains the best creative works of the last year done by the members of the photography club; approximately 100 photos are shown in this exhibition divided to two axes: black & white entitled “Meditate on Nature” and colored entitled “The Decisive Moment”.
Head of the photography club in Salalah says that the club was established in 1993 and it becomes a member of many international unions such as the International Union of Light Photography in May 1993. The club carries out different activities both inside and outside the Sultanate; some of the club’s works won the bronze medal in 29th black and white Biennale 2008 that was organized by the Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (F.I.A.P.) in Czechoslovakia.
