The Media Club of the Office of Information and Public Relations at DU organized a workshop entitled “Basics of Writing Journalistic Articles” presented by Mohammed Al-Baraami from Oman News Agency. The workshop was attended by the DU Media Club members, to benefit from the press experiences in developing their journalistic writing skills. It included an extended explanation of basics of writing a journalistic article and its important elements that the writer of the article should consider. The lecturer talked about the necessity of the way of formulating the journalistic news and its styles and the main tools to deliver good, simple, clear and fully integrated news, so that the reader understood the topic.

The participant prepared some news applying what they learned from the lecturer. He criticized their writing and then he showed them their point of strength and weakness. Mr. Al-Baraami assured that the distinguished journalist is the one who always tries to improve the skills, especially the language and syntactic skills. He also concentrated on the necessity of reading and seeking the truth in writing any news.
