Within the framework of the cultural events Dhofar university holds throughout the year, the cultural and drama branch, the students affairs office at DU held a quiz at the end of the different activities held by the students affairs office for the first semester of the year 2008- 2009 under the auspice of Dr Hussein Yaghi, Dean of the college of Arts and Applied Sciences with the presence of a number of both the academic and the administrative staff as well as Du students.

The quiz comprised two sets of questions which varied in content and concentrated on general knowledge to achieve the aim of the quiz which was to present the information quickly in a framework of enthusiasm. Three groups participated in the quiz represented the university faculties; each group comprises three students. This was done in two stages:

In the first stage, the team of the college of Arts and Social Sciences and that of Engineering were nominated after showing their educational, social, economic and athletic backgrounds; the quiz ended by crowning the engineering college team to be succeeded by the college of arts and applied sciences and then the college of commerce and administrative sciences. The sponsors of this quiz, Mecca Perfume Company, Rahalat car rent company and Ahd al-Khalij rent car company were honoured in this activity as well as honouring the participants in the opera “Shiny Life” organized by the cultural and drama branch in the students affairs office at DU on the occasion of the Sultanate’s 38^th National Day.
