Academic Programs and Degrees
Dhofar University offers two-year diploma and four-year bachelor programs that follow the American system, and uses English as the medium of instruction. The University also offers an Orientation Program as a preparatory course of study. Applicants are required to sit for placement tests in English language, Arabic language, Mathematics, and computer skills in order to determine whether they need to join the Orientation Program or the colleges.
The diploma programs are:

The bachelor programs are:

Dhofar University aims at giving its students a general academic background during the first two years of study, after which specialization is sought during the third and fourth years. A diploma is granted to those who complete the first two years of the four-year program in all business and engineering majors with a cumulative average of 65% and above; however, only those who attain 70% and above in the major courses are promoted to the third year, and would qualify for a bachelor’s degree at the end of the fourth year if they meet the graduation requirements.
Dhofar University also offers a post-graduate diploma in education. The diploma requires specialization in a subject area, at least a bachelor’s degree from a college or university that is recognized by the Sultanate of Oman, and a cumulative average in the major courses of not less than 70%. The subject areas include Arabic, English, Informatics, Math, and Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics). In the case where the student does not have subject matter preparation, s/he is required to complete a minimum of 24 credits in courses at the 200 level or above. Exit requirements include the successful completion of 30 credit hours of the required and elective courses in the program, passing a comprehensive examination that includes a performance component and an exit interview with a panel of education experts
