Welcome to Dhofar University where you shall experience quality education, friendly colleagues, and dedicated professors in an intellectually stimulating and enjoyable learning environment.
We are proud to be the first private university in the Sultanate of Oman which provides quality higher education modeled after the American system. To emphasize its dedication to serve the Dhofari community, Dhofar University was named after the governorate of Dhofar. With the cherished blessings and benevolence of our visionary leader and guardian His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Dhofar University shall succeed in realizing its motto ‘vision for the future’. Our University is blessed with a visionary board of trustees that always directs us toward distinction. We also receive strong academic and administrative support from the American University of Beirut, the most prestigious leading university in the Arab world since 1866. Founded in 2004, Dhofar University is growing rapidly to become a major educational institution in the Sultanate, with some 1700 students registered in 2006-2007. We have three colleges: Arts and Applied Sciences, Commerce and Business Administration, and Engineering, offering associate diplomas, bachelor degrees, and post-graduate diplomas. The University has an expanding learning resource center and a Continuing Education Center that offers non-credit courses and workshops to the local community and to other interested learners in Oman and the GCC countries. To realize its mission of providing excellence in education ‘in an open learning environment conducive to creativity and innovation,’ plans are underway to build a modern campus in Salalah with state-of-the art facilities and equipment. Simultaneously, we are completing an extended self-study for the entire university in preparation for full accreditation by the Ministry of Higher Education.
As we embark on a new phase of development and strive to achieve our mission with enthusiasm and persistence, I invite you to explore the vibrant academic and social life at Dhofar University.
