Lecturer/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Graphic Design
Position Title: Lecturer/Assistant Professor /Associate Professor of Graphic Design Salary and rank: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience Appointment type: Academic, annual basis (renewable) Starting Date: September 01, 2012
Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities for this position include but not limited to: Teaching graphic design courses including: Core studio courses, typography, photography, digital media, print, and web design; work closely and report to the GDIA department chair; maintain a good working knowledge of current technology in the field; provide service to the department, college and university; be involved in curriculum development; student advising, committee assignments, and community service activities.
Educational and Special Requirements The candidate should hold a Ph.D. (master degree as a minimum) in Graphic Design, Communication Design, Visual Communication, or other related design field and has a related university teaching experience. Preference will be given to candidates with proven practical field experience in digital design, animation, web design, digital video editing and/or 3D graphics and/or print /publication design; mastery of visual communication and design culture; expertise in usage of design software packages namely Adobe creative suite and 3DS Max; and experience in guiding and evaluating student final projects and portfolios.
Application procedure Evidence of the applicant’s experience must be supported by a statement of teaching philosophy addressing vision, scholarly work, and design skills supported by tangible evidence.
