Assistant / Associate Professor of Social Work  

Position Title: Assistant / Associate Professor of Social Work

Salary and rank: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience
Appointment type: Academic, annual basis (renewable)
Starting Date September 01, 2012

 

Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely and report to the Chair of the Social Sciences Department. The appointee’s responsibilities at the undergraduate level include: (1) Teaching social work courses, supervising final year projects, advising students and coordinating students’ field social work and visits to schools and other social agencies. (2) Participating in committees. (3) Conducting research and contributing to the DU ongoing research projects, submitting proposals for funding, publishing in peer reviewed journals and attending conferences, and collaborating with peers on ongoing multidisciplinary research projects. (4) Rendering services to the department, college, university and community.
 

Educational and Special Requirements
The candidate must demonstrate competitive academic background knowledge and possess the following qualifications:

1) A Ph.D. in social work.
2) A good publication track.
3) Experience in teaching at the university level.
4) Good communication skills in English and Arabic.

Evidence of the applicant’s experience must be supported by a statement of teaching philosophy addressing vision, scholarly work, and IT skills supported by tangible evidence.
