A B O U T
Research is an integral part of any academician’s career
growth and one has to make continuous endeavour to
‘create knowledge’ i.e. to do research. Dhofar University (DU)
recognizes research as one of the main pillars of academic
excellence as explicitly mentioned in its mission statement.
All efforts are being made to encourage research among its
DEPARTMENT faculty members and to create a conducive environment for
credible research.

To achieve its mission to create a hub of research activity
RESEARCH beneficial to the region, the University has established a
Department of Research (DR) that works on three principles
i.e. engagement, innovation and impact. DR is supported
by Research committees at University and College level
along with the Research focal point for managing internal
and external grants. DU has also setup a Research centre in
2015 that focuses on niche areas of Research of regional
importance, dealt with in different Research units and
develop strategically important local and national topics.
The research activities at DU are headed by the Department
of Research. The vision, mission, objectives and key goals of
the department are:
Vision
The vision of the DR is:
“To foster, promote and establish a conducive environment for good quality Research”
Mission
The DR shall promote, facilitate & foster the Research environment at DU. Its aim is to contribute to the
development of the quality Research work at DU and to help it to establish as a leading Research
institution in the region.
Research Goal
To promote Research activities and consultancy services and to be the Research hub for all Research
activities vital for the region.
Research Objectives
The key objectives of DR are to:
Strengthen environment for Research activities.
Provide an environment conducive to consultancy services.
Develop DU into a hub for Research activities that are important to the region.
Ensure ethics and bio-safety in Research.
Establish Research teaching nexus.
