The Department of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Applied Sciences at Dhofar University is seeking to recruit a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor with a specialization in Translation, starting on 1st February 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to contribute to the department’s vision by providing high-quality research, teaching, and community service.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for the position, the candidate must meet the following requirements:

The candidate must hold a full-time PhD in Translation Studies (English/Arabic) from a university recognized by MOHERI.
The candidate’s Master’s degree cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) should be no less than 3.20 on a 4-point scale.
Candidates must have at least two years of higher education teaching experience in Translation Studies at recognized institutions of higher education, post-PhD.
Preference will be given to those with significant contributions to scientific research and published work in Translation field.
Candidates must have at least two (2) papers published in recognized peer-reviewed journals. These papers must not be derived from the candidate’s Master’s thesis.
The candidate should be under 45 years of age as of the appointment date.

MBBS/MD from an accredited institution
Have FIVE years Minimum of five years’ experience in the field of medical education
Proven track record of leadership and management in an academic medical education
Experience in faculty development and mentorship, especially in implementing simulation-based curricula and assessments
Proficiency in the use of various simulation technologies, including high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, and virtual reality systems (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator “CHSE” by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) advanced level or similar societies is preferred)
Membership and active participation in professional organizations such as the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH), the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and the International Association for Medical Education (AMEE)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
Scholarship in the field of medical education and simulation, as evidenced by publications and presentations at national and international conferences

Have full time masters or MBBS/MD, from a university recognized by Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Oman (MOHERI) (preferably those with good contributions to scientific research and published research in the same field of specialization), in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job.
MBBS/MD graduates may qualify to this grade providing their cumulative cGPA is 3.0 or more on a 4-point scale.
A master degree cumulative Grade Point Average of not less than 3.30 on a 4-point scale.
Preference shall be given to candidate pursuing their PhD
Have THREE years of experience in teaching full time of the subjects in area of specialization at undergraduate level in a good higher education institution post obtaining the masters’ degree.
Have at least two (2) refereed journal publications in Scopus or Web of Science journal preferably with at least one (1) such publications should be in SSCI or SCIE Impact Factor from the Clarivate Analytics Database.

Arrange and execute interviews and focus group discussion sessions.
Conduct interviews with stakeholders and representatives of related bodies, in addition to students and university instructors in Oman, in Information Technology IT, Management Information Systems MIS, Computer Science CS, and Computer Engineering CE or other IT-related fields.
Prepare documentation for conducting interviews and secure consent from all participants.
Compose comprehensive reports outlining data analysis, insights and result implications.
