Instructor/Lecturer position in the Math Unit in the Foundation Program

Situated between the mountains and the Arabian Sea in the beautiful seaside city of Salalah, internationally-accredited Dhofar University is the premier university in southern Oman. The university’s Foundation Program equips students with a standard minimum level of mathematics before they begin their degree programs.

Omani candidates to teach mathematics in the Foundation Program must have:

a full-time MA in education with specialization in mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 3.0; and
at least two years’ teaching experience at the post-secondary level after having completed their MA

OR

a full-time MA in mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a BA in the same; and
at least three years’ teaching experience at the post-basic level after having completed their MA.

Omani candidates with no experience will be eligible for the position of Instructor if they meet all other qualifications.

Non-Omani candidates to teach mathematics in the Foundation Program must have:

a full-time MA and BA in mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 3.2; and
at least three years’ teaching experience at the post-secondary level after having completed their MA

All candidates—Omani and non-Omani—must have good command of the English language (minimum IELTS Band 6.0 or its TOEFL equivalent).

Candidates without these qualifications will not be considered.

Successful candidates will be offered:

Assistant Research Professor

Duties:

The College of Engineering at Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman, invites applications for a faculty position for the rank of Assistant Research Professor (starting on February 1^st, 2025) in any Engineering fields. Duties include undertaking active research roles in the field of expertise and teaching.

Eligibility Conditions:

Have full time PhD, from a university recognized by MOHERI (preferably those with good contributions to scientific research and published research in the same field of specialization), in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job.
Have two years of post-PhD experience in teaching of the subjects in area of specialization and ability to transmit understanding of that knowledge to students. Omani Nationals are exempted from this requirement.
Carry out research that has led to peer-reviewed publications and scholarly or professional activity, which are judged to increase knowledge and understanding and improve the scholarly and professional competence of the faculty member.
Evidence of engagement in undertaking Funded research project(s) as either PI or Co PI in their previous employment will be preferred.
Preferred age group shall be 25 to 40 years.

Responsibilities.

Submit regular research funding proposals to MoHERI, ministries, industries, and other national and international funding bodies.
Conducting workshops/seminars for scientific audiences in DU and outside DU.
Teaching load of 6 credit per regular Semester. The courses will be taught preferably in the concerned department/college or any other college depending on need and applicant specialties.
Should publish at least 8 Scopus research papers every year in quality impact factor journals out of which in 50% such publications should be single author or first author.
Work with senior research colleague in a research unit or himself secure and continually engage in at least one funded research project either from MoHERI or from other funding agencies.

Benefits:

Apart from a tax-free basic salary, the University provides a two-year renewable contract with end-of-service gratuity, annual leave with return air tickets, and medical insurance services in private hospitals in the Sultanate. The salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience.

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant (RA) at the Department of Management Information Systems, Dhofar University, Salalah, Oman, to work on the TRC project entitled “The Role of Entrepreneurial Enablers in Motivating Omani University Female Graduates to Launch IT Ventures”, (Proposal ID: BFP/RGP/ICT/23/063) under the supervision of Dr Samir Hammami and Prof. Faris Alshubiri. The project ends on 31^st Dec. 2025.

Strong entrepreneurial and management background, focusing on experiments, surveys, and interviews.
Knowledge of how to design questionnaires electronically.
Exceptional proficiency in English, both in written and verbal communication.
Demonstrated practical teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset.
Exceptional time management proficiencies.
Preference is given to candidates with good knowledge and skills in utilising diverse statistical techniques to analyse collected data.
Preference is given to candidates who publish an article.
An academic record showcasing excellence in relevant coursework is preferable.

Responsibilities:

Collect data (distribute questionnaires to students and instructors of universities in Oman) for the mentioned research.
Arrange and execute interviews and focus group discussion sessions.
Conduct interviews with stakeholders and representatives of related bodies, in addition to students and university instructors in Oman, in Information Technology IT, Management Information Systems MIS, Computer Science CS, and Computer Engineering CE or other IT-related fields.
Prepare documentation for conducting interviews and secure consent from all participants.
Compose comprehensive reports outlining data analysis, insights and result implications.
