Duties:

The Department of Chemical Engineering (CHE), Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman, invites applications for faculty position for the rank of Assistant Professor (starting in September 2024) in the field of Chemical and Process Engineering.

Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, supervising students’ projects and undertaking active research roles in the field of expertise. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree and have relevant experience, and proven ability for excellence in teaching, and communication skills. The medium of delivery is English.

Requirements:

A PhD in Chemical Engineering (BSc and MSc must be also in Chemical and Process Engineering).
In-depth subject knowledge/expertise in the field of Chemical and Process Engineering.
Experience (minimum of three years) of teaching as well as conducting and designing laboratories in introductory and advanced courses of the designated areas.
Experience in ABET Accreditation is highly desirable.
Ability to develop and deliver innovative and effective teaching and learning materials.
High level of analytical and problem-solving capability, planning and organizational skills, demonstrated team working skills with high level of cooperation with other people.
Demonstrable ability to communicate complex oral and written information clearly in English.
Ability to contribute to research in the designated areas and related topics, develop research proposals, seek research funds, and demonstrate high level of team-work skills and cooperation with others.
Good publications record in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Job description: The marketing manager shall be responsible for all the activities related to the newly formed company, which include its operations. Primarily he will be responsible for the marketing function of the company product and services portfolio along with Dhofar University branding and marketing of its academic programs and services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Propose the operational budget for the company and present it to the university’s Vice-Chancellor.
Works towards achieving the Company’s objectives by implementing the approved plans.
Prepare the marketing plan for the Company’s activities and the University’s Activities and Academic Programs and work on achieving it.
Manage the company’s contracts with relevant authorities and ensure their proper implementation.
Propose solutions to problems that may face the company’s work.
Submit periodical reports to the University’s Vice-Chancellor about the company’s Performance.
Any other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Educational Qualification and experience:

The candidate applying for the position should have a Master in Business Administration/Management with specialization in Marketing with at least five years’ Experience in handling marketing or sales function of a company.

Expectations:

The candidate should possess:

Comprehensive knowledge/understanding of market analysis, marketing of services and branding preferably in the Omani Context.
Ability to achieve Key Performance Indicators/ sales target to generate revenue.
Practical Knowledge of preparing, negotiating and managing commercial contracts.
Ability to prepare professional administrative reports especially those related to financial analysis.

Demonstrated practical teamwork skills and a collaborative mindset.
Exceptional time management proficiencies.
Preference is given to candidates with good knowledge and skills in utilising diverse statistical techniques to analyse collected data.
Preference is given to candidates who publish an article.
An academic record showcasing excellence in relevant coursework is preferable.

Responsibilities:

Collect data (distribute questionnaires to students and instructors of universities in Oman) for the mentioned research.
Arrange and execute interviews and focus group discussion sessions.
Conduct interviews with stakeholders and representatives of related bodies, in addition to students and university instructors in Oman, in Information Technology IT, Management Information Systems MIS, Computer Science CS, and Computer Engineering CE or other IT-related fields.
Prepare documentation for conducting interviews and secure consent from all participants.
Compose comprehensive reports outlining data analysis, insights and result implications.
