Teaching experience at the university level for a minimum of 3 years.
Strong English communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
An IELTS score of 6 is required for applicants with no teaching experience.

Position Title: Deputy Director of Computing and Networking Center

Salary and rank: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.

Appointment type: Non-Academic, annual basis (renewable)

Starting Date: Within one month of appointment

Duties & Responsibilities:

Participate in the development of strategic plan and budget for the department led by the Director
Prepare Monthly Action Plan for the entire department in alignment with the strategic plan
Monitor all the sections and follow up with each department and colleges and CPS
Attend meetings of the department and report on the follow of the task assigned
Checking daily backups, system interfaces, server hardware and logs.
Assists CNC staff in daily tasks, trains them on theoretical and practical procedures, troubleshooting, and supports them within corporate standards.
Claim suppliers for any software/hardware conflicts and follow up on all claims forwarded to CNC.
Supervise and ensure proper functioning of the IT support helpdesk system.
Document and archive all correspondence and troubleshooting; follow up on suppliers’ visits and maintenance.
Develop and adapt ideas that enhance IT services with the approval of the Director.
Analyze, design, test, install, maintain, and document computer systems.
Guide CNC staff in the installation and maintenance of computers across laboratories and requested locations.
Assist in administering University computing resources including:
- VMware vSphere infrastructure and virtual machines
- Oracle Servers and Databases (including SIS, HR, Finance)
- Linux servers and systems
- Microsoft Exchange Servers, FTP, Active Directory, DNS, Cluster Servers
- Fortinet firewall and network security systems
- Kaspersky antivirus systems and updates
- Koha / Virtua Library System and other applications
Provide and write technical requests for proposals (RFP) and recommendations for the procurement of new computers and IT accessories.
Ensure implementation and monitoring of security procedures to protect systems from intrusions, breaches, viruses, unauthorized access, and data loss. Ensure up-to-date compatibility and regular system updates.
Manage the University’s IP telephony system and advise the Director on the required improvements.
Assist with development and review of IT policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate on programming projects and automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to improve operational efficiency.
Support advanced networking configurations and services (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs).
Perform any other task as assigned by the Director.
Act as acting director in the absence of the director of CNC.

Eligibility Conditions:

The candidate should have:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer engineering or equivalent.
Minimum experience of at least Ten (10) years of experience 5 of them in a supervisory level in handling and managing information system and networks of a large organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in Arabic and English
Preference shall be given to applicants who are holders of certifications like Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified associate in project management, AMA Certified Professional in Management, COBIT 5 Foundation, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Project+, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), MCSE, CCNA, and DBA.

Ability to conduct systematic literature reviews using academic databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Google Scholar.
Basic laboratory skills, including sample preparation, safe handling of chemicals, and adherence to laboratory safety protocols.
Competence in data analysis, result interpretation, and graphical presentation of experimental findings.
Good scientific writing skills for preparing reports, progress updates, and research manuscripts.

Conduct comprehensive literature reviews.
Assist in the synthesis of ultrasmall nanomaterials.
Support optimization of synthesis and coating parameters.
Perform physicochemical characterization of synthesized nanomaterials.
Analyze experimental data and compare results across different synthesis routes or coating strategies.
Prepare progress reports, experimental logs, and technical documentation aligned with the project timeline.
Assist the PI and research team in maintaining organized records and ensuring smooth execution of project milestones.

Project Title: Investigating the Role of Frankincense Oil in Aromatherapy in the Dhofar Region

Project Brief (add this):
This project investigates how controlled exposure to frankincense oil aromatherapy may relate to participants’ responses measured through structured instruments (e.g., questionnaires/interviews) and experimental data collection, including analysis of brain/BCI-related signals where applicable. Work will be conducted under controlled conditions and in compliance with approved research protocols.

Requirements

Strong ability to write technical reports and support research publications (evidence preferred: writing sample and/or publication list).
No known allergy to aromatic products (candidates may be asked to confirm suitability for working with aromatherapy materials).
Excellent academic record and professional command of English.

Responsibilities

Support the PI in setting up the experiment in a controlled environment and following research protocols.
Collect, manage, and analyze data from surveys, interviews, and experiments.
Maintain clear documentation, versioned datasets, and analysis logs.
Prepare periodic progress summaries and contribute to final reporting and dissemination activities (e.g., workshops).

Prepare recycled asphalt mix designs based on project criteria
Conduct laboratory testing, including Marshall Stability and Flow, Indirect Tensile Strength, Bitumen content analysis, and Moisture susceptibility tests.
Record, tabulate, and interpret results
Draft technical reports, progress updates, and contribute to the final project report
Document work and prepare research papers for publication.
