The Centre for Preparatory Studies (CPS) at Dhofar University invites applications for an Instructor/Lecturer position in the Math Unit within the البرنامج التأسيسي.

Requirements

Omani Candidates

Omani applicants to teach Mathematics in the Foundation Program must meet one of the following sets of qualifications:

Option 1:

A full-time MA in Education with specialization in Mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 3.0; and
At least two years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level after completion of the MA.

OR

Option 2:

A full-time MA in Mathematics with a minimum GPA of 3.0, and a BA in Mathematics; and
At least three years of teaching experience at the post-basic level after completion of the MA.

Non-Omani Candidates

Non-Omani applicants must meet the following requirements:

A full-time MA and BA in Mathematics, with a minimum GPA of 3.2; and
At least three years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level after completion of the MA.

Language Requirement

All candidates—Omani and non-Omani—must demonstrate a good command of the English language, with a minimum IELTS Academic Band score of 6.0. Candidates who do not meet the above qualifications will not be considered.

Position Title: نائب مدير القسم of Computing and Networking Center

Salary and rank: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.

Appointment type: Non-Academic, annual basis (renewable)

Starting Date: Within one month of appointment

Duties & Responsibilities:

Participate in the development of strategic plan and budget for the department led by the Director
Prepare Monthly Action Plan for the entire department in alignment with the strategic plan
Monitor all the sections and follow up with each department and colleges and CPS
Attend meetings of the department and report on the follow of the task assigned
Checking daily backups, system interfaces, server hardware and logs.
Assists CNC staff in daily tasks, trains them on theoretical and practical procedures, troubleshooting, and supports them within corporate standards.
Claim suppliers for any software/hardware conflicts and follow up on all claims forwarded to CNC.
Supervise and ensure proper functioning of the IT support helpdesk system.
Document and archive all correspondence and troubleshooting; follow up on suppliers’ visits and maintenance.
Develop and adapt ideas that enhance IT services with the approval of the Director.
Analyze, design, test, install, maintain, and document computer systems.
Guide CNC staff in the installation and maintenance of computers across laboratories and requested locations.
Assist in administering University computing resources including:
- VMware vSphere infrastructure and virtual machines
- Oracle Servers and Databases (including SIS, HR, Finance)
- Linux servers and systems
- Microsoft Exchange Servers, FTP, Active Directory, DNS, Cluster Servers
- Fortinet firewall and network security systems
- Kaspersky antivirus systems and updates
- Koha / Virtua Library System and other applications
Provide and write technical requests for proposals (RFP) and recommendations for the procurement of new computers and IT accessories.
Ensure implementation and monitoring of security procedures to protect systems from intrusions, breaches, viruses, unauthorized access, and data loss. Ensure up-to-date compatibility and regular system updates.
Manage the University’s IP telephony system and advise the Director on the required improvements.
Assist with development and review of IT policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
Collaborate on programming projects and automation scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) to improve operational efficiency.
Support advanced networking configurations and services (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs).
Perform any other task as assigned by the Director.
Act as acting director in the absence of the director of CNC.

Eligibility Conditions:

The candidate should have:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer engineering or equivalent.
Minimum experience of at least Ten (10) years of experience 5 of them in a supervisory level in handling and managing information system and networks of a large organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in Arabic and English
Preference shall be given to applicants who are holders of certifications like Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified associate in project management, AMA Certified Professional in Management, COBIT 5 Foundation, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Project+, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), MCSE, CCNA, and DBA.

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant (RA) at the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering, College of Engineering, Dhofar University, Salalah, Oman to work on an Industrial project, entitled “Using Recycled Asphalt Concrete (RAC) for sustainable pavement in Dhofar Governorate” under the supervision of Dr. Paul C. Okonkwo.

Duration of the Project: 1 Year

Requirements:

Understanding of asphalt concrete composition, behavior, and recycling methods
Familiarity with hot and cold mix recycling techniques
Proficiency in conducting standard asphalt and aggregate tests (e.g., Marshall Stability, Indirect Tensile Strength, Bitumen content)
Familiarity with sample preparation, mix design, and mechanical testing.
Origin Software, MS Excel, and statistical tools for data processing.
Literature review using academic databases (ScienceDirect, Scopus, etc.)
Data analysis and interpretation.
Report writing and documentation
Working in Dhofar’s climate and road network condition

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on Recycled Asphalt Concrete (RAC) technologies and Sustainability practices in pavement engineering
Collect primary and secondary Pavement samples data
Analyze mechanical, thermal, and environmental performance indicators of RAC mixes
Prepare recycled asphalt mix designs based on project criteria
Conduct laboratory testing, including Marshall Stability and Flow, Indirect Tensile Strength, Bitumen content analysis, and Moisture susceptibility tests.
Record, tabulate, and interpret results
Draft technical reports, progress updates, and contribute to the final project report
Document work and prepare research papers for publication.
