Joint Committee of the College of Medicine at Dhofar University Conducts Facility

This morning, Dhofar University Vice Chancellor, Professor Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, met with the Joint Cooperation Committee between Dhofar University and Sultan Qaboos University for the College of Medicine as part of the final preparations for its opening. At the start of the meeting, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the college’s readiness to receive students for the 2025–2026 academic year. Discussions centered on the infrastructure and academic programs, followed by a field visit where the committee explored the new college building, its departments, halls, library, and the Student Activity Center.

Speaking about the inspection, Professor Rashid Al Abri, Dean of the College of Medicine at Sultan Qaboos University and Chairman of the Joint Cooperation Committee, stated that the visit aimed to review the final stages of Dhofar University’s readiness to welcome its first cohort. He highlighted key aspects under supervision, including classrooms, educational equipment, and the academic, technical, and administrative staff. “This tour helps us ensure everything is in place before students arrive in September,” Prof. Al Abri noted, adding that the committee continues to oversee the admission process in alignment with the universities’ shared vision.

Dhofar University is also monitoring student admission requirements for the College of Medicine. “This marks our fifth visit, preceded by other assessments and discussions,” Prof. Al Abri emphasized. He commended Dhofar University on its progress and extended best wishes for its continued success.

Professor Saleema bint Amer Al Barwaniyah from the College of Medicine at Sultan Qaboos University also shared her thoughts on the visit, noting that the committee reviewed key facilities, including laboratories, classrooms, anatomy labs, and the library. “The infrastructure reflects a strong commitment to excellence in medical education,” she said. She praised the college’s potential to become a leading academic institution, recognizing the efforts of those involved and expressing confidence in its ability to contribute meaningfully to medical sciences.

These ongoing visits are part of Dhofar University’s broader initiative to ensure a smooth launch for its College of Medicine, reinforcing its dedication to medical education, scientific research, and healthcare development.
