Professor Muna Al Saadoon Appointed Dean of the College of Medicine at Dhofar University

Professor Muna Al Saadoon is a distinguished academic in community pediatrics, with over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic service. She began her professional journey with a medical degree from Sultan Qaboos University in 1993, followed by a Master’s and PhD from the University of Nottingham, UK. She later joined the Department of Child Health at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, contributing actively to teaching, research, and clinical services at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital. Her academic career culminated in her appointment as Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University (2018–2024). Under her leadership, the College achieved key milestones, including international re-accreditation of the MD program and the establishment of an academic program evaluation committee. Her research focuses on child protection and rights, as well as medical education, pedagogy, and assessment. Professor Al Saadoon is also engaged in community initiatives related to child welfare, academic quality, and bioethics. She has published extensively in her field, and her expertise led to her collaboration as an advisor with UNICEF. Nationally, she served on the State Council from 2015 to 2023 by Royal Decree, contributing to public service and national leadership.
