Mechanical Engineering Department Hosts Hands-on 3D Printing Workshop

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Dhofar University organized a Hands-on Workshop on 3D Printing on 22 October 2025, giving students practical experience with one of today’s most advanced manufacturing technologies. The session took place in the 3D Printting laboratory.

The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Farooq Ahmed, with an opening address by Dr. Paul Okonkwo, and conducted under the supervision of Dr. Furqan Ahmad, Chairman of the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

During the session, students learned the fundamentals of 3D printing, including machine setup, slicing software, material selection, and troubleshooting methods. Eng. Tofayel Ahmad and Eng. Fadhil Al Housni guided the participants through hands-on activities, demonstrating live printing and model fabrication.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to apply theoretical concepts to real-world practice, promoting innovation and creativity in the areas of additive manufacturing and mechanical design.
