Workshop in CE: ABET Philosophy in CLO–SO Mapping
Dhofar University’s Engineering College held a focused workshop titled “ABET Philosophy in CLO–SO Mapping” on Monday, 13 October 2025, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Led by Dr. Abdel-Rahman Al Qawasmi, the college’s QAC Coordinator, the session brought EC faculty together on campus—venue arranged in coordination with the Dean—to strengthen alignment between Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) and ABET Student Outcomes. Over the hour, Dr. Al Qawasmi walked participants through practical mapping techniques, showed how to design professional exams that reflect suitable teaching strategies and assessment methods, and demonstrated how assessment evidence feeds programme evaluation and continuous improvement. In a key highlight, he also showcased a new web application “QAMS”developed to evaluate Student Outcomes (SOs) and archive course-file documents, illustrating how the platform supports exam blueprinting, rubric-based scoring, and organized evidence storage. Faculty left with clear guidance on writing measurable CLOs, aligning instruction and assessment to mapped outcomes, and documenting changes that close the loop at course and programme levels. Follow-up support for exam blueprinting, rubric calibration, and onboarding to the new software will be coordinated through the QAC office.
