Overview

The UNESCO Chair on Science and Innovation for Environmental Sustainability (SIES) at Dhofar University is a newly established initiative under the UNESCO UNITWIN Programme, aimed at advancing research, education, and innovation in sustainability.

The Chair serves as a regional platform for knowledge generation, capacity building, and collaborative research, addressing key environmental and sustainability challenges aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Through interdisciplinary approaches, the Chair promotes the integration of scientific research, technological innovation, and community engagement to support sustainable development at local, regional, and global levels.

To become a regional hub for science-driven sustainability innovation, contributing to environmental resilience and sustainable development.

Mission

To advance research and innovation in environmental sustainability, promote knowledge sharing and capacity building, foster collaboration across academia, industry, and government, and support the development of solutions aligned with Oman Vision 2040.
