Department of Social Sciences at Dhofar University Strengthens Community Partnerships through a Visit to the Conciliation and Reconciliation Committee in Salalah

As part of the Department of Social Sciences at the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Dhofar University’s commitment to enhancing its community role and activating partnerships with relevant institutions, Dr. Hussein bin Ahmed Baamer and Dr. Mohamed Mohamed Kandil conducted a field visit on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to the headquarters of the Conciliation and Reconciliation Committee in Salalah.

During this visit, a meeting was held with Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Qatan (Acting Director of the Conciliation and Reconciliation Department), in the presence of Mr. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Dhaib, a member of the committee. The meeting was a great opportunity to learn about the nature of the committee’s work and its pivotal role in promoting a culture of reconciliation, resolving disputes amicably, and fostering values of tolerance and mutual understanding within the community.

The meeting also addressed potential areas of collaboration between the department and the committee, aiming to support the promotion of reconciliation culture among social work students, enhance their professional capacity in dealing with community conflicts, and bridge academic learning with practical application in this vital field.

This collaboration aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, particularly in strengthening social cohesion, promoting dialogue and tolerance, and reinforcing reconciliation values as key pillars for building a stable and cohesive society.

The visit concluded with an agreement to further develop future collaboration, contributing to the dissemination of reconciliation culture and supporting the role of academic institutions in preparing qualified professionals capable of contributing to social stability and sustainable development.
