College of Engineering at Dhofar University Bridges Academia and Industry Through Landmark MoU with Oman Tower Company

In a landmark initiative reflecting a progressive shift in engineering education in Oman, Dhofar University’s College of Engineering has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oman Tower Company. The partnership aims to bridge academic theory with industry practice, equipping students with the skills and exposure needed for the modern workforce.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Prof. Amer bin Ali Al-Rawas, Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University, and Eng. Majid bin Amer al-Kharousi, CEO of Oman Tower Company. Commemorative gifts were exchanged as a symbol of the long-term cooperation envisioned by both institutions.

The MoU outlines a comprehensive collaboration that includes on-site field training for engineering students at Oman Tower’s project locations across the country. It also encompasses specialized workshops, knowledge exchange forums with industry professionals, and opportunities for joint research and consultancy. The agreement further facilitates advanced training programs for both university students and company staff, contributing to the overall development of technical and professional competencies.

Dr. Issam Al-Bahdoor, Dean of the College of Engineering, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that it aligns with the college’s mission to provide students with real-world learning opportunities. “This agreement helps transform academic learning into actionable experience, preparing our students to become future leaders in engineering,” he said.

The initiative is part of the college’s broader strategy to contribute to Oman Vision 2040 by forging impactful partnerships with both public and private sectors. It was jointly led by Dr. Issam Al-Bahdoor and Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa Abd-Rabo.
