College of Engineering at Dhofar University Participates in IEEE Oman: A Step Toward Innovation and Industry Integration

The College of Engineering at Dhofar University participated in the IEEE Oman Student and Young Professionals Conference, hosted by the College of Business and Modern Sciences in Muscat on October 7–8, 2025. The forum convened students, academics, and young professionals from across the Sultanate to exchange knowledge and present cutting-edge projects in engineering and technology, strengthening collaboration between universities and industry.

Dhofar University was represented by Mohammed Gamal from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Assistant Dean Dr. El Manaa Barhoumi. Gamal presented his funded research project, “Smart Attendance System Using RFID and IoT,” which applies radio-frequency identification and Internet of Things technologies to automate attendance with real-time accuracy. The system integrates with educational databases and analytical dashboards, drawing strong interest from participants and industry representatives for its practicality, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Dean of the College, Dr. Issam Al Bahdoor, praised the delegation’s contribution:
