
College of Engineering at Dhofar University Presents a Practical Insight on Utilizing BIM Technologies in Urban Development during “Urban October 2025”
Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa, from the College of Engineering at Dhofar University, represented the university’s academic participation in the “Urban October 2025” events held on October 14, 2025, at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Dhofar. The program was organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning through the General Directorate of Housing and Urban Planning in Dhofar Governorate, as part of ongoing national efforts to expand community partnerships and elevate public awareness on emerging urban development trends. The event was held under the theme: “Her Imprint Builds: Where Stories Are Made and the Fingerprints of Women Engineers Flourish on the Ground.”
The Dean of the College of Engineering at Dhofar University, Dr. Issam Al Bahdoor, emphasized that this participation reflects the university’s national commitment to advancing sustainable urban development, empowering young Omani talents in the engineering sector, and reinforcing the role of digital transformation in shaping future cities.
During the event, Dr. Mostafa delivered a specialized technical presentation showcasing advanced applications of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies in sustainable city planning. She highlighted its role in improving data management, supporting informed decision-making, and elevating long-term quality and performance of future urban projects.
The event witnessed broad participation from industry specialists, engineers, researchers, and university and school students across Dhofar Governorate. Discussions concluded with knowledge sharing and academic exchange, reaffirming Dhofar University’s role as a scientific contributor to Oman’s future-oriented urban sustainability vision and its national transition toward more innovative and integrated urban environments.
