
Dhofar University Concludes 8th School Math Competition
Dhofar University celebrated on Monday, December 8, 2025, end of the eighth Mathematics Competition for Post-Basic Education schools in Dhofar Governorate, under the patronage of Prof. Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, the Vice Chancellor. The event was also attended by Dr. Khalid Almashikhi, Dean of the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, alongside members of the academic, administrative, and technical staff, as well as parents and supervisors. The event was organized by the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Department of Mathematics and Science, in collaboration with Salalah Mills Company.
This year’s competition witnessed broad participation from 30 schools, including seven private institutions and 23 government schools, underscoring the growing commitment to strengthening students’ skills in science and mathematics.
The program commenced with the National Anthem followed by recitation from the Holy Quran. Dr. Husamuddin Sadiq, Head of the Mathematics and Science Department, then delivered a welcoming address, expressing gratitude to Salalah Mills for its sponsorship. He highlighted the competition’s role in fostering mathematical awareness, particularly considering rapid advancements in information technology and artificial intelligence and emphasized Dhofar University’s contribution to the progress of science and knowledge.
Prof. Al Rawas then honored the winning schools, presenting prizes and certificates of appreciation to the participating teams. The results were as follows:
Government Schools Category
- First place: Al Saeedia School, Salalah (Grades 10–12)
- Second place: Dhofar Basic Education School for Boys (Grades 11–12)
- Third place: Madinat Al Haq Basic Education School (Grades 5–12)
Private Schools Category:
- First place: Indian School, Salalah
- Second place: Salalah International School
At the end of the event, the Vice Chancellor presented a commemorative gift to the sponsoring company, represented by Mr. Mohammed Aqeel Al Hadi Ba Omar, Head of Government Affairs and Relations at Salalah Mills. The students and participants also celebrated by having a group photo session.
