
Dhofar University Concludes Third International Forum on Frankincense and Medicinal Plants
Dhofar University today concluded the Third International Forum on Frankincense and Medicinal Plants, which commenced earlier this week under the patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrooqiah, Minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation. The event brought together a distinguished assembly of scientists, experts, and researchers from 17 countries.
Over the course of three days, the Forum featured a series of scientific papers and specialized research highlighting the latest advancements in frankincense and medicinal plant studies. Discussions focused on their applications in medical innovation and the pharmaceutical industry, as well as strategies for fostering sustainable investment in Oman’s rich natural resources.
The closing ceremony featured remarks from Dr. Syed Ahsan Jamil, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Dhofar University, who highlighted the Forum’s role in reinforcing the university’s reputation as a premier hub for scientific research. He commended the high caliber of international participation and the impactful outcomes of the Forum’s sessions.
Professor Louay Rashan, Director of the University Research Center, also addressed attendees, expressing gratitude for their contributions and presenting the submitted research papers. He described the collective output as a significant addition to the global body of knowledge on frankincense and medicinal plants.This Forum forms part of Dhofar University’s broader mission to advance scientific inquiry and apply research toward sustainable development. It also supports the University’s vision of positioning Dhofar Governorate as a global center for the study and utilization of frankincense and medicinal flora.
