DU Undergraduates Presenting at SQU Conference

In line with its enduring commitment to the academic growth and scholarly engagement of its students, the College of Arts and Applied Sciences at Dhofar University encouraged the participation of three outstanding students from the English Language and Literature Department in the prestigious 12th annual student conference on Language, Linguistics, Literature, and Translation held on February 27, 2024, at Sultan Qaboos University. The conference was expertly organized by the SQU English Language and Literature Department at the College of Arts and Social Sciences. Representing Dhofar University were the talented trio of Fatima Alzahraa Musallam Al-Awaid (presented on English and Omani Arabic Noun Phrase Construction Disparities), Fatima Abdi Al-Balushi (presented on Wh-Movements in Makrani Balochi Dialect), and Lujain Ali Al-Jabri (presented on Gender Difference and its Impact on Using Arabic Language for Description). Their involvement underscores the college’s dedication to nurturing scholarly excellence among its students. Notably, the research papers presented at the conference stand as a testament to the diligent efforts of the participants in collaboration with their peers Ahad Musallam Alhadhri, Safiya Ahmed Alhadhri, and Ryan Rajeh Al-Amari, during the preceding semester, under the guidance of Dr. Abdul Wahid Al-Zumor, Associate Professor in the English Language Department. This participation aims at translating theoretical knowledge and skills acquired by students into tangible scientific contributions. Such endeavors align closely with the university’s overarching mission to realize the graduate attributes in its students, fostering a deeper understanding and honing their research expertise. Through initiatives like these, Dhofar University continues to advance its vision of academic excellence and societal impact.
