Free and Transparent Election Held for Student Advisory Council at Dhofar University

17 students from all colleges at Dhofar University were elected as members of the Student Advisory Council for the Academic Year 2023/2024 in the election held on October 01, 2023. resulted in the acquisition of (17) The students of the university in all colleges are confident of their colleagues in their assumption of the commissioning and accountability secretariat after they have passed all the conditions of candidacy and competition. The newly-elected members are Umaimah bint Ali bin Ahmed Sawakhron (highest votes), Osama bin Abdullah bin Shatta Al Murjan, Abha bint Mohammed bin Hamoud Al Hajriyah, Haitham bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Shahri (from Faculty of Law). The students who were elected from College of Arts and Applied Sciences are Saeed bin Mohammed bin Saeed Al Yahiye, Ahd bint Musallam bin Ahmad Al Hadri, Adnan bin Naji bin Amer Al Qasimi, Fatima bint Khamis bin Salem Al Khamshiya, and Victoria Elizabeth bint Ali Awadh Al Hassan, while from the College of Engineering, the elected students are Ibrahim bin Salem bin Bakhit Bait Khathir, Osman bin Mubarak bin Said Al Harsoussi, Rahma bint Ahmed bin Said Khilah Al Numani, Mumin bin Said bin Jamaan Adok Al Amri and Mazen bin Said bin Bakhit Al Barami. The students elected from the College of Commerce and Business Administration are, Salem Bin Awadh bin Mabkhot Al Janaibi, Muna bint Bakhit bin Ali Taboom, and Ghariba bint Musallam bin Ahmed Al Mashani.

It is worth mentioning that the preliminary procedures of the elections began by candidates filing for nominations on September 18, 2023. A total of 72 (40 females, and 32 males) students filed for nominations. Only 35 students fulfilled the candidacy conditions and made it to the final list. Mona bint Taman Mubarak Al Amri, Deputy Director of the Department of Student Affairs at Dhofar University and member of the Election Committee, stated that the committee overseeing the electoral process of the Student Advisory Council was composed of the Vice-Chancellor of Dhofar University as a Chair and the Director of the Department of Student Affairs, a faculty member, a staff from the Department of Student Affairs and four students from the University.
